The fireproof glass comprises at least two glass sheets, and a transparent refractory composed of solidified hydrated polysilicate acid-base metal salt is placed between the glass sheets. At least one piece of glass has a primer on the surface in contact with the refractory, and its adhesion to the refractory will be reduced at the temperature of the fire resistance test. At the temperature of fire resistance test, the glass sheet exposed to fire can be completely separated from the refractory. Therefore, the polysilicate refractory baffle is still intact, even when the glass sheet exposed to fire bursts and fragments fall.
The early fireproof glass was a variety of composite products. Due to the characteristics of materials and structures, most of them had low air permeability, heavy weight and serious defects, mainly due to the aging of organic materials and long service life, which must be replaced regularly. Therefore, it is generally only used for the treatment of fireproof doors and windows, and only a few special occasions can form a transparent wall.
The following problems shall be paid attention to for fireproof glass:
(1) . fire resistance of supporting materials and structures
Glass is only a kind of building material. It cannot form a separate part of fire prevention. It can only play a corresponding role when its fixed and bearable components (such as window frame, glass curtain wall support system, etc.) will be assembled and installed with common components (such as fire doors and windows, wall segmentation or skirt, etc.).
(2) . be careful when forming a firewall
The fire resistance of a single piece of fireproof glass (only meeting the requirements of fire resistance integrity) is limited to 90 minutes (1.5 hours). The fire protection limit of firewall specification is 3 h (or 4 h), which requires its fire resistance and fire insulation (i.e. equivalent to some type of fire-proof glass).
